Zongohene Commends Gov’t Free SHS Policy


The Zongohene of Mpasatia in the Ashanti Region, Nana Abdullai Mohammed, has commended President Nana Akufo-Addo for implementing the campaign promises made during the 2016 general elections.

According to him, the free Senior High School (SHS) policy which had been rolled out for about 420,000 students across the country is indeed a laudable policy which everyone, irrespective of political and religious background should embrace.

Nana Abdullai said the condition associated with the policy that government would not continue to sponsor the repeated students was also in the right direction to encourage beneficiaries to take their students seriously.

That he said would bring a sort of healthy study competition among the students to help improve on the quality of students produced from the SHS level through to the tertiary level.

Nana Mohammed was speaking to The Republic in an interview concerning the free Senior High School (SHS) policy which had been rolled out by the (NPP) government at Mpasatia.

He urged the parents to monitor their wards’ character, especially when they return from school.

He entreated the tutors of the various schools to report the recalcitrant students to the (PTA) for immediate action to be taken against them.

He said that Ghana needs responsible youth to take up the mantle of development hence the need to groom the youth with utmost discipline.
