…As NPP re-unveils Mahama’s Enhanced Community Info Center at Amanfrom
Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu Ekuful, yesterday served as an instrument of symbolism to Ghana’s anticlockwise progress, when she unveiled a plaque with the flag of Ghana turned upside down, to re-commission a project that has already been commissioned by her predecessor.
At Amanfrom in the Akwapim North Municiaplity of the Eastern Region, Mrs. Ekuful, stepped up majestically to unveil a plaque to commission the Enhanced Information Center, with the Red, Gold, and Green with the Black Load star appearing in an upended Green, Gold and Red.
On that same plaque, the strange version of the Ghana Flag had appeared embossed along with the Coat of Arms with Mrs. Owus Ekuful’s name and title as Minister of Communications, appearing in bold as the proud commissioner of the project. the commission date is stated as Tuesday, 31st October, 2017.
The embarrassing plaque has since hit social media gathering trolls for the Minister.
But as many tease Ursula Owusu Ekuful’s embarrassing plaque as symbolic of ass backward developments in Ghana under President Akufo-Addo, what has really earned her scorn is the fact that her unveil of the plaque is a reenactment of a commissioning that was done in 2016.
The Enhanced Community Information in Amanfrom had first been commissioned by former Communications Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah on December 1st 2016.
A project undertaken by the predecessor NDC government, the plaque bearing testimony to the fact that Dr. Omane Boamah had commissioned it last year existed on the same building until it was replaced with Ursula Owusu’s own recently.
“THIS ENHANCED COMMUNITY INFORMATION CENTRE WAS OFFICIALLY COMMISSIONED BY HON. DR. EDWARD OMANE BOAMAH (MINISTER OF COMMUNICATIONS) ON THURSDAY, 1ST DECEMBER, 2016,” the original plaque had read.
It is not clear if this original plaque had been secretly removed in the night and replaced with Ursula Owusu’s own. However the replacement was done, whoever did it forgot to position the Ghana flag well on it.
An upended embossment of the flag has served to heighten the embarrassment of the credit thieving NPP government and its Communications Minister, Ursula Oweusu Ekuful.
The covetous theft of the credit for the Amanfrom Community Information Center is not one of a kind – only recently, a plaque that had been unveiled by former President Mahama to commission the Ridge Hospital was changed into the name of Health Minister, Kweku Agyemang Manu.
Also, the embarrassing capsize of Ghana’s flag first happened under President Akufo-Addo in April, during the visit of President Adama Barrow to the Flagstaff House.
