The Agona District Assembly has endorsed the president’s nominee, Madam Katherine Reckling, as the new District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area.
Before voting commenced, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Osei-Mensah, said that he was confident the assembly members were going to vote massively for Madam Reckling, but reminded her that the endorsement meant they were seeking her cooperation.
Mr. Osei-Mensah indicated that it would be an act of bad faith and a stab in the back on them and refused to cooperate with the assembly members for the development of the district.
He admonished the incoming DCE to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring that the assembly members got a fair share of development for their various electoral areas in the district.
There was spontaneous jubilation in the hall when supporters got the hint after voting and sorting of ballots that there was no dissenting vote among the 49 assembly members.
The Regional Minister urged the DCE to read and be conversant with the Act of Parliament governing the activities and management of the district assembly, since that would guide her dealings, make her successful and also help realize the vision of the president to bring progress and development to the doorstep of the people.
Madam Reckling expressed her gratitude to the assembly members and urged them to do same to avoid conflict in the assembly.
