Sack Edward Mahama from PNC

– Mallam Issah urges PNC executives

Former Minister of Youth and Sports under the Kufuor administration, Alhaji Mallam Ali Yusif Issah, has urged the National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah, together with his executives, to exorcize Dr. Edward Mahama from it ranks and also as the leader or flagberaer of the party, following Dr. Mahama’s ambassadorial appointment offered him by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

According to him, the flagbearer of the PNC in the 2016 general election by his acceptance of the NPP government offer has not only turned his back on the party, but has also shown grave disrespect to the PNC and what it stands for as one of the formidable parties in the country.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo named 22 persons as ambassadors to man the country’s missions abroad. Among them is the 2016 flagbearer of the People’s National Convention, Dr. Edward Mahama, who has been appointed as Ghana’s Ambassador-at-Large

According to official statement as Ambassador-at-Large, Dr. Mahama has been made a diplomat of the highest rank, with special duties, and can represent the country anywhere internationally.

Mallam Issah during an interview with this paper pointed to the double standard behaviour of Dr. Mahama after accepting a role as an Ambassador-at-Large from the NPP government.

He revealed how he got himself with Ambrose Dery, then PNC members, suspended by Dr. Edward Mahama for taking up some positions in NDC and NPP governments at some point in time after Dr. Mahama had rejected an offer to serve in the NPP led Kufuor administration.

“I was surprised Dr. Mahama accepted the appointment because this is Dr. Edward Mahama, who in 2000 , the former President John Agyekum Kufuor offered him the vice presidential candidate of his party and he turned it down with a lot of excuses that he didn’t want anything to do with NPP. He gave all sorts of excuses as to why he thinks that PNC were of different background and traditions from the NPP and, therefore, impossible for him to accept the running mate of a different tradition…all for you to now turn around to accept an appointment called ambassador-at-large,” he said.

Meanwhile the five-time flagbearer of the PNC, Dr. Mahama, has refuted such wild allegations by Mallam Issah and other executives of the PNC as “outright lies.”

Setting the record straight, Dr. Mahama revealed that in fact it was him who proposed that  Ambrose Dery go into the NPP government and again had Moses Daniba also served under the same NPP government.
“What I did not do in 2000 was that I would not serve as a vice president unless it was a party to party agreement. A vice president is serving under a particular manifesto that the candidate puts up in the year he is elected. Ambassador is ambassador for Ghana, there is a difference,” he said.
