President AkufoAddo now Swim in Pool of corruption– Sidii Abubakar

Following Chairman Freddy Blay’s free buses to 275 constituencies of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which made him victorious at the just ended national delegates congress of the party, the National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) has alleged that President Nana Akufo Addo, government is swimming in corruption as the phenomenon has become worse than ever before.

According to Mr Sidii Abubakar Musah, National Youth Leader of the NDC, allowing Freddy Blay to displayed such opulence in order to win political power, has made the President lost the moral rectitude to fight corruption being a direct beneficiary.

Mr Sidii Abubakar made the observation in an interview with THE REPUBLIC, on a sideline of the swearing in of Madina constituency new executives of NDC in Accra last Sunday July 8, this year.

The NDC youth leader said the President, who declared war on corruption and set up the Office of SpecialProsecutor to fight corruption, ought to have known, particularly as a leader, that the million of dollars deployed by his party Chairman to purchase buses could not be less than proceeds of corrupt activities.

To this effect, he said the NPP government no longer has the moral right to accused NDC and using anti-graft agencies against only the opposition members.

He told the paper that, “If President Akufo Addo and the NPP are serious about fighting corruption and not just out to persecute NDC members, they should have began with the probe into the source of funds used for purchasing of buses by their elected party National Chairman.”

Sidii ask, “Can President Nana Akufo Addo in all honesty claim ignorance of reports in the open media that Freddy Blay single handily purchased 275 buses at the cost of $11 million in order to win national chairmanship as part of campaigns?

“Can the Presidency and the NPP inform Ghanaians what steps the Government has taken to investigate this allegation, which has been in public domain and to clarify their roles as beneficiaries of the alleged loan funds?

The NDC youth Leader again, challenged President Nana Akufo Addo to prove his fight against corruption, stating, “the government of NPP is so corrupt that Freddy Blay opulence of wealth within 18 months in power vindicated the NDC and that is the true situation of our country.”

“They talk about corruption but their anti-corruption agencies are set only against the opposition. Meanwhile, the NPP government is swimming in corruption. We are aware. At the appropriate time, we will give details. How can a President who enjoys the company of looters and is never aware of the activities of corrupt people around him?,” Siidi quizzed.

He further stated that , Ghanaians have pulled off the facade of lies and propaganda of the Akufo Addo Presidency and NPP deception machinery and what they see now is the stark pretentiously sanctimonious Nana Akufo Addo Presidency.

Beyond corruption, the NDC Youth Organizer observed that hunger and poverty had skyrocketed and therefore, urged party leaders to speak out and save the country.

“Corruption, poverty, hunger is worse now than ever before. Who are they to challenge the NDC? They don’t have the moral right to challenge us because corruption is now worse than ever before.”

“Let them continue to engaged in propaganda. Propaganda is not going to help. The facts will speak for itself. So, stop deceiving the people of Ghana. NPP government under President Nana Addo is more corrupt than ever before in the history of our nation. It’s worse now than ever. At the appropriate time we will come out to show Ghanaians who is corrupt and who is not corrupt,” the NDC firebrand stated.

Fighting corruption, Sidii said is a noble and courageous act in a country like Ghana where it has eaten deep into its fiber, adding that, the previous NDC government had shown the way by prosecuting its own members but that could not be said in the current NPP government.

He however called on the NDC members to remained united and work hard to return the party to power in 2020.

Sidii said, the newly elected national executives of the NPP are persons already known in the political arena and that, the NDC has strategies that could win the elections.

While praising the youth members for the enthusiasm shown at the recent branches and constituencies executives elections, the NDC Youth Leader charged them to elect more credible and dedicated members at the upcoming regional and the subsequent national executives conference to lead the party into 2020.

He said Presidency and his ruling NPP party have no plans on how to rescue Ghana from its economic malaise, pointing out that since they came into power in January 2017, they have gradually reneged for on all the promises they made.
