Pres urged to consider persons with disability in his MMDCE appointments

The Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD) has urged President Nana Akufo-Addo to consider persons with disability in his ongoing MMDCEs appointments.

Since chapter twenty of the 1992 constitution of Ghana places emphasis on “system of local governance and administration which shall, as far as practicable, be decentralized section 243 of the constitution states that there shall be a District Chief Executive for every district who shall be appointed by the president with prior approval of not less than two–thirds majority members of the assembly present and voting at the meeting.”

This release is a follow-up to their earlier release, which was copied to The Republic asking the President to include persons with disability (PWD)s in his governance, and also to add their voice to the call of their umbrella organization, Ghana Federation of Disabled Organization (GFD).

According to the group members, such as Mr. Ntim Twumasi Kwaku, also known as NTK, for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ejisu Juaben, and Mr. Obey Martin for Sunyani West respectively, which has come to their notice, and others which they are yet to know for all inclusiveness to be realized in governance.
