A passionate appeal has been made to pastors, politicians and chiefs to join hands to fight social evils in the country.
Rev. Dr. Kwame Osei – Bonsu, founder and leader of the Miracle Faith International Ministries, made this appeal at a crusade dubbed “God Revive Ghana” at Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region.
He lamented that Ghana once a rich and disciplined nation had become a beggar country where the words share, honesty, respect and discipline had been erased from their vocabulary.
In a sorrowful but loud voice, Rev. Osei–Bonsu attributed this mess to some pastors, politicians and chiefs, saying “I therefore call on pastors to start preaching the truth which is the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Pastors who, demand money from people before praying for them are sinning against God. Politicians should stop stealing the people’s money and serve them because politics is a selfless and honest service to the nation and not an opportunity to amass wealth. They should also avoid politics of hate, insult and acrimony to move the country forward. Chiefs must also stop selling land to people to engage in illegal mining to destroy our waters and lands.”
Rev. Dr. Osei Bonsu said if Ghanaians would humble themselves, show remorse and call on the almighty God, he would listen to their cries as is stated in 2 Chronicle 7: 14.
He regretted that Ghanaians had allowed money to be their God. “Although Ghana is blessed with all kinds of natural resources yet we have to import everything. The answer is very simple. We have drifted ourselves away from almighty God. We have destroyed all the good things God gave us. It has been said that if we continue to pollute our water and waterways, in five years, Ghana will import water and many people will die,” he noted.
Rev. Dr. Osei-Bonsu humbly appealed to Ghanaians to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all other things would be added unto them.
He entreated Ghanaians to turn away from their ways, like corruption, stealing, misappropriation of funds, murder and armed robbery.
He pointed out that many people are very poor and others have lost their business, saying “Farmlands are not fertile anymore, crops are not producing what they are supposed to produce. People are suffering financially, physically, spiritually and emotionally because of some wicked politicians. Suicide is the order of the day. People no longer fear God. People no longer worship God. People no longer give glory to God.”
He added, “Most of our politicians in Ghana including public officials are now boasting of their wealth, forgetting that their so called success was money they stole from the people of Ghana through corruption, misappropriation of government funds, mismanagement, loot and share, etc. They have forgotten that corrupted trees bear corrupt fruits (Matthew 7:15-20).”
Rev Dr. Osei–Bonsu charged Ghanaians to remember that there would be a terrible times in the last days, saying “And I put Ghana in this situation. People will be lovers of themselves. People will be lovers of money. People will be boastful, proud, abusive, and disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy without love, forgiving slanderous, treacherous rash and lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God.”
He prayed that God, the forgiver of sins, would hear our cries, rescue us from perishing and revive us.
