…As Veep’s ‘akonta’ gets UAE Ambassadorial job
President Akufo-Addo’s government of family, friends, ex- girlfriends and baby mamas has expanded to cover the latest blueblood – Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan, father-in-law of the Vice President.
The father of 2nd Lady Samira Bawumia has been appointed as Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.
Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan joins a long list of family members, friends and ex-girlfriends of the first two gentlemen of the land in an appointee list that has been seen as a stinking patronage.
He was sworn in yesterday by the President, who has all the key appointees of his government, including the Chief Justice, as his family members. The ambassadors to Brazil and the Czech Republic are also ex-girlfriends of the President.
Mrs. Samira Bawumia’s father goes to the UAE as the first-ever Ghanaian Ambassador to that country.
It is not clear if President Akufo-Addo, who has created strange positions at COCOBOD and the NCA just to create, ‘jobs for the boys,’ had invented this ambassadorial post too to “fix” the Vice President’s father-in-law.
Alhaji Ramadan’s elevation makes him the umpteenth family member of the President and his Vice to get an appointment in the Akufo-Addo government, but the second in the Ramadan family to get an appointment.
Before his Ambassadorial appointment, his son and Mrs. Samira Bawumia’s brother, Abu Ramadan, had been appointed a deputy Director at the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).
Abu has since revealed that as a deputy Director at NADMO, he shares authority with four other deputy directors appointed by President Akufo-Addo to the disaster management organization, which has a budget that is seen as a joke.
Meanwhile, both Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan and his son, Abu Ramadan, are all former executives of the People’s National Convention (PNC) party. The elder Ramadan is a former chairman, while the younger one is a former national youth organizer.
While they had been at the PNC, it had never been lost on anybody that they were moles of the ruling NPP in that Nkrumaist party, as Abu Ramadan had been inclined towards defending the NPP more than the PNC.
Their public love for the NPP had cast them in the same light as former PNC Flagbearer, Edward Nasigri Mahama, who, has since also been appointed as Ambassador-at-Large by President Akufo-Addo.
Their elevation by the NPP government has therefore come as very little surprise to many.
