Mobex 2017 comes off this August

Coasters Company Limited, organizers of Mobex, Africa’s flagship technology expo, have slated August 2017 as the official event month for the third edition of the show.

The release of the event month follows a launch in December 2016, at which former Deputy Minister for Information, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, had announced government’s decision to set up a $400million ICT park in the country.

“We are currently working with a private sector firm to set up a $400 million ICT park to serve as an integrated technology ecosystem like the Silicon Valley, with the capacity to create over 40,000 direct jobs,” Hon. Kwakye Ofosu had said.

The former Deputy Information Minister had also pledged the ministry’s support for the Mobex technology expo.

The 2017 edition of Mobex will have the Mobex Africa Innovation Awards which will seek to reward enterprises and individuals deploying the use of technology to create jobs, enhance customer delivery efficiency, among others.

According to organizers, Mobex17 will be a three-day event that will be held at the Accra International Conference Centre.

This 3rd edition comes after the Africa Mobile & ICT Expo (MOBEX) train had landed in Liberia earlier in the year. In August 2016 the organizers had announced that a deal had been reached between them and the Liberian government.

A statement released by Coasters Company Limited said a partnership agreement with the Liberian government had been struck to promote Information and Communications Technology and showcase new trends in the ICT and Telecommunication industry within the Liberian market.

Under the agreement, Coasters will replicate in Liberia its flagship ICT trade show, MOBEX, which was first held in Ghana in July 2015.

The show is the biggest ICT oriented exhibition and trade show in Ghana.

MOBEX-Liberia partnership followed a successful second edition of MOBEX Africa held in June 2016 at the Accra International Conference Centre, which had been graced by former President John Dramani Mahama.

It had featured a thought-leadership conference and Masterclass sessions.
The main emphasis of that Expo had been Digital Entrepreneurship as some exciting technologies went on exhibition during the period.
