Manly-Spain’s Detractors Resort To Rough Propaganda

……..Jockeying For Gtr-Accra NDC Chair Slot

Politics is show business for ugly people and Henry Ekow Manly-Spain is finding out that he is probably too fine too much.

Seen as the best man to replace the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s outgoing Chairman for Greater Accra, Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, detractors of Mr. Manly-Spain have resorted to smear campaigns.

And so it has come to pass that, as Ade Coker, who has indicated that he will not contest again for the Greater Accra Regional Chairman position prepares to step down, bad stories about Manly-Spain have suddenly started floating in the media.

The detractors have seized on a little misunderstanding that Mr. Manly-Spain is having with his bankers and catastrophized it to create the impression that he is an irresponsible and untrustworthy entrepreneur.

Interestingly, however, as the detractors push this agenda, they have exposed themselves through the conduit that they are using to smear Mr. Manly-Spain ahead of the NDC’s regional executive elections.

The detractors are using a well-known daily tabloid in the cause of the corrupt New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, as launch pad for their dirty stories against Mr. Spain.

The pro-NPP paper, ever faithful to attack dog duties, has published a series of stories about companies owned by Mr. Manly-Spain, including a litigation with  bankers, Fidelity, creating the false impressions that the man is serial debt defaulter.

But as paper’s latest hatchet job comes in the form of a story, which is headlined: “More Trouble for Manly-Spain,” The Republic is finding the people behind the dirty smear campaigns.

Joseph Kobina Ade Coker is on his way out as the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC. As he prepares to step down, Henry Ekow Manly-Spain is seen as natural successor.

However, some people want Alhaji Yahaya Kondo, the NDC’s Greater Accra Regional Treasurer, to replace Ade Coker as Chairman, and so, naturally, have found Manly-Spain as an obstacle that must be removed.

This group, which wants Manly-Spain out of the way, has therefore resorted to dirty smear campaign as the first line of attack.

They have thus hired the ruling NPP’s leading tabloid to do the hatchet job of twisting, catastrophizing and publishing issues about Manly-Spain to create the impression that he is a dubious character.

However, the stories have failed to achieve the damage they hope for, because Henry Ekow Manly-Spain is very well known in the NDC for his entrepreneurial sense of industry, dutifulness to party and his generosity.

Sources within the NDC have claimed that Ade Coker is one of the detractors behind the smear campaign against Manly-Spain, but The Republic has been finding out that this is not true.

Mr. Manly-Spain himself has not been available for comment.
