Gt Accra NDC women urged to take Interest in Branch Elections

Mrs. Felicia Mekpoi Bortey, Women’s Organiser of Greater Accra Region of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on the women’s wing of the party in the region to take interest in the ongoing branch executives elections.

According to the Regional Women’s Organizer, apart from the women’s organisers position, the female members should take interest in other positions as they have equal competency as their male counterpart.

Mrs Bortey made the called in an interview with THE REPUBLIC on the ongoing branch executives elections across the country.

She said it was time the NDC women wing get fully involved and educate their colleagues women about the good policies of the party to help bring it back to power.

“For NDC to return to power in 2020, we the women wing must work hard. We must take interest and educate our fellow women about the ideals of the party, the policies and programs. And we need have to take executives roles to help reorganise the party.”

“Women positions should not only be our limit, we should aspire for other positions like organisers, because we have the zeal and competency like our male counter parts,” Mrs Bortey said.

The Greater Accra Regional Women’s Organizer noted that, the 2020 election is not going to be easy and that all NDC female comrades across the region who love the party should take interest in electing dedicated and hardworking leaders in the on-going branch elections in order to ensure victory in the general elections.

“Over the years, the women wing had work hard and am sure this coming battle will be fought again by our women. The work for the party wasn’t easy. But we have always been the kind who turn the situation in their tide despite the odds. I know we will do it again, wonderful,” she stated.

She intimated that, by electing hard working members, especially female members would help to mobilize voters from grassroots base for the party, stressing that since elections are won from grassroots levels, there was the need to elect fearless and good branch executives for the 2020 general election.

Mrs. Bortey, also called on both the men and the women members of the party to woo their spouses to rally behind the party.

She further appealed to the grassroots members not to sell their conscience to any grassroots leaders for their future personal advantage which could bring confusion into the on-going branch elections.

While urging the NDC women to take interest, Mrs Bortey also entreated all branch aspirants to adhere strictly to National Executive Committee (NEC) guidelines outlined for branch election in accordance with NDC’s constitution.

The regional women’s organizer further told the paper that, President Nana Akuffo Addo led government of the New Patriotic Party has failed in delivery and that was why the President packed the Jubilee House with over 998 party members as presidential staffers.

She described the NPP government as the supper incompetent and most corrupt government which has only come to enrich themselves at the expenses of the taxpayer.

She added that, NDC track record in infrastructure development, social intervention programs and the positive growth of the economy under former President John Mahama, made Ghanaians to realized the true difference between the NDC and NPP government.

Mrs Bortey said, come 2020, Ghanaians would show the NPP exit from power, for the gross incompetent, massive corruption, failures on campaign promises and running family, friends and concubines government.

She however cautioned the aspirants not see themselves as enemies after branch election but rather consider themselves as one family under one umbrella thereby sharing ideas and strategizing together for massive victory in 2020 general election.
