A prominent public economist and lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, Dr. John Gatsi, has been called to the Ghana Bar.
Along with a number of other law students, Dr. Gatsi has earned a certificate to practice law after passing the requisite Bar exams.
Dr. Gatsi’s new qualification adds to an already colourful range of academic laurels that he has achieved, including a Bsc, Msc and a doctorate from the Swiss Management Centre.
Even as the vocal economist’s academic credentials are further boosted by his new status as a lawyer, his call to the Ghana Bar serves to destroy recent attempts by some detractors to paint him as an academic fraud.
A recent publication by the Valdosta State University had listed the Swiss Management Centre as one of several universities that are unaccredited even though they have issued doctorates to high profile Ghanaians, including, Dr. Gatsi.
The claim has since been dismissed after it came to light that the SMC University has ACBSP Accreditation. ACBSP is a globally recognized Accreditation for Business Schools and Programs.
The SMC University is also verified to be registered with the National Accreditation Board (NAB) of Ghana as a foreign university.
Dr. Gatsi is currently a lecturer at the University Of Cape Coast Business School.
