Hon Alexander Gabby Hottordze, Member of Parliament(MP) for Central Tongu Constituency, has presented hospital equipment to the four communities in the Constituency to ensure quality health delivery.
The items were delivery beds for four CHIPs Compound at Mafi-Dove, Mafi-Avedor, Mafi-Seva, and Vumi-Kpoviadzi communities.
According the MP, the donation was done in response to appeal by Chiefs and Assembly members as well as branch executives members of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) during the recent branch elections.
According to Hon Hottordzi, the four beds cost over GHS20,000 was made possible through his MPs Common Fund for Special Projects.
The beds, he said, would help to reduce infections rate during labour as the CHIP compounds uses impoverished and wooden beds to deliver pregnant women who visits the facilities for delivery.
While promising to use his National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) funds to complete most of the health projects in the constituency, the MP who is a Member on the Health Committee of Parliament, appealed to the Ministry of Health and the Government to support the Health Centres to play the pivotal role in health delivery.
He noted that, apart from the inadequate delivery equipments, the facilities also needed other auxiliary facilities, especially residential facilities for nurses and paramedical staff to enable them work effectively.
Mr Hottordze also appealed to the staff to take good care of the items to serve the purpose for which they were donated.
Madam Justine Sefakor Alornyo, District Director of Health Services for Central Tongu, commended the MP for his support to the District in terms of health so as to improve the living standards of the people.
She gave the assurance that the items would be put to good use and appealed for similar donation from stakeholders to enhance health delivery.
