…Says Otiko Djaba, Rockson Bukari Masterminded Adam’s Death
The frosty relationship between Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisah Djaba, and the Northern Regional chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu, has taken a further dip, as the vociferous regional chairman has accused the Gender Minister and Rockson Ayine Bukari, Upper East Regional Minister, of having participated in the murder of the late Adams Mahama.
This latest twist widens further the schism between the two bigwigs in the ruling party, who also hail from same region, the Northern Region.
Bugri Naabu accused the Upper East Regional Minister, as well as Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, of having a hand in the murder of the party’s late Upper East Regional chairman Adams Mahama.
Adams Mahama was allegedly murdered in an acid attack at his residence in 2015 and, currently, Gregory Afoko, relative of the ousted National Chairman, Paul Afoko, is facing trial over his death.
“You could remember Adams Mahama who certainly died when he was bathed with acid, it was through the same secret meeting,” Mr. Bugri Naabu alleged in an interview with Radio XYZ, while responding to allegations of bribery made against him by Ms Djaba, whose “secret” meeting he scuttled last Saturday.
“You’ll be surprised that some of these people who masterminded the killing of Adams have come to take positions in the government, like the Upper East Regional Minister.
He was deeply involved in the masterminded killing of Adams,” Mr Bugri Naabu alleged to Radio XYZ’s yesterday morning.
He also said: “Otiko has been a controversial woman in the party. As I’m telling you, this Adams issue, she was deeply involved, so because of that most of us who know her will call her a controversial woman,” he added.
Bugri Naabu also said the party executives in the Northern Region will not stand aloof as the “Sandema constituency organiser who is supposed to be Paul Afoko’s younger brother” is also given a position in the Akufo-Addo government as a District Chief Executive.
“We are not going to sit down to allow this to happen, people who will come and destroy our government, to come and spoil our government, we, the regional chairmen, have been talking since yesterday (Sunday) and we are not going to take it like that,” he said.
Otiko Djaba and Bugri Naabu’s banter has taken over the airwaves since last week, as they trade accusation against each other over the issue of appointment of DCE and other government positions.
Otiko accused Bugri Naabu of collecting goats and other stuff in exchange for position in appointment in the government.
The two party leaders started sparring over who has the right to hold party meeting and other party events, without consulting the other.
