The shocking untruth that the Defence Minister, Dominic Nitiwul, peddled at a press conference to the effect that President John Dramani Mahama is occupying a house sitting on Military land has rather put the spotlight on Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia as the real trespasser.
A house belonging to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, which he had struggled to put up, while in opposition, has suddenly mushroomed, like magic, around the Teshie Military Range area, less than a year into office.
The building, which is now near completion, is located 250 meters from the Estate, where former President John Mahama, whose Presidential entitlements, including a house, have not been given him by President Akufo-Addo, now stays.
The Bawumia building, which is quite palatial, is receiving finishing touches, and contrasts very much in grandeur, with the estate house in which President Mahama is living as a tenant.
Dominic Nitiwul, the Defence Minister, last week shot off his mouth in shocking dishonesty, claiming President Mahama has encroached on Military land.
In spite of the fact that Mr. Nitiwul, the Bimbila MP, whose own area is on a war footing, has military intelligence at his disposal, claimed the man inflicted ignorance on unsuspecting Ghanaians claiming the former President is an encroacher.
Implying that the former President had led appointees of the predecessor government to sell state lands to themselves, Mr. Nitiwul actually sought to disgrace President Mahama, saying it was unbecoming of the former Commander-in-Chief of the army to turn round and encroach on Military land.
President Mahama’s office has since replied with a statement of the simple fact that he does not own any land and that he stays in an estate that is owned by a private estate developer.
However, Mr. Nitiwul’s shocking claim has since served to call attention to a sudden speedy development of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s house, just 250 meters away from the estate where former President Mahama stays, making the Vice President, the more culpable encroacher on Military lands.
Information that has been teased out by Mr. Nitiwul’s provocation even includes allegations that other NPP government regime actors, including Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta and Deputy Minister, George Andah, have lands in that same area which is close to the Palace Mall.
In the end, it appears that the ignorant Defense Minister has rather ended up exposing his own government officials, especially Vice President Bawumia, who is already walking under suspicion that he acted together with software developer, Vokacom, to defraud the state of Ghc15million through a fake GPS App.
This is the same Dominic Nitiwul who is on record to have publicly contradicted his own Deputy, Maj. Rtd. Bright Oduro, in the matter of soldiers allegedly guarding illegal miners to enable such miners to carry out their nefarious activities.
