The Ahafo Ano South District Assembly in the Ashanti Region has endorsed the President’s nominee, Mr. Joseph Agyeman Dapaah, as the new District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area.
Mr. Dapaah received 100 percent, as all the 71 assembly members present voted yes for him.
He was overwhelmingly confirmed last Friday and there was spontaneous jubilation at the hall when supporters got the hint, after voting, that there was no dissenting vote among the 71 assembly members.
The endorsement, which was supervised by the Electoral Commission, was witnessed by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah, Mr. Johnson Adu (MP) for the area, Mr. Collins Owusu Amankwa, MP Manhyia North, Kumasi and Dr. Emmanuel Marfo, Member of Parliament for Oforikrom, a suburb of Kumasi.
Mr. Osei-Mensah advised the DCE to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring that the assembly members got a fair share of development for their various electoral areas in the district.
He urged the assembly members to support him to ensure that all good policies of the government were implemented to bring development to the people.
He also admonished him to avoid partisanship and nepotism, but to operate an open-door administration, so that the people would be able to contribute their quota towards the development of the area.
He called on the assembly members to work as a team to ensure that they contribute their quota towards effective and efficient management of the assembly’s resources.
The incoming DCE, after his endorsement, lauded the people for the trust reposed in him and pledged to operate an open door policy so that every member of the assembly and all stakeholders would be able to contribute their quota towards the development of the area.
He also pledged to motivate the teachers in the area, to give of their best to enhance quality education, since the education level was low in the district.
In related development, Mr. Abdul Razak Nubu was endorsed as Presiding Member (PM) of the area as well.
