Forty-five exuberant youths from various communities in the Atwima Mponua District in the Ashanti Region have received free training skills from Obronima Foundation, based at Barniekrom, near Nyinahin.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Osei Tutu, who is a former assembly member of Barniekrom and National Democratic Congress (NDC) vice chairman, in an interview with The Republic, said due to poverty and illiteracy many found it difficult to further their education after junior high school (JHS) and hence the need for him to establish a vocational project to boost the future of the youth.
Mr. Tutu said the training is free, and the thematic areas the youth are trained in have to do with soap-making, dressmaking, hairdressing, footwear and phone repairs.
The project was started by Mr. Aaron Obroni in 2004 who managed to put up a storey building to train the vulnerable in society.
The dignitaries who graced the occasion were Mr. Stephen Yeboah, a former DCE; Issaka Combat, Presiding Member (PM), heads of department and other political parties executives.
