As part of measures to reduce the burden of Muslims during the Ramadan fasting under the COVID-19 pandemic, the Parliamentary Candidate (PC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC ) for Anya-Sowutuom, Mr. Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has distributed foodstuffs to all Muslims communities within the constituency.
The move, according to him is to reduce the risk of moving to markets and others crowded places to purchase food for Holy period of Ramadan in the midst If the coronavirus.
The Food items the PC presented includes; rice, canned tuna flakes, cooking oil, sachets of tomato paste, beans and other assorted food stuffs.
The support which covered the entire Muslims communities without political colour is on the theme:”Sharing the Peace of Ramadan on Anyaa-Sowutuom.”
Muslims communities within the Awoshie and Sowutuom electoral areas was the first point of call.
While distributing the food, Mr Allotey appealed to residents to adhere to the government restriction on movement directives on social gathering and make sure they do not found foul with the law.
“The donation of the food items is to convey the much needed message of hope and assurance to you that the NDC is a party that cares about the welfare of citizens,” Allotey emphasized.
He however called on the Muslims throughout the countryn to use the Ramadan period to pray for peace and as well pray to Allah to end the Coronavirus pandemic which is killing.many across the globe.
He further advised the Muslims to observe the World Health Organisation protocols by ensuring that they wash theirb hands regularly, put on nose masks, use hand sanitizers and as well observe physical distancing, adding “stay home if you do not have any essential activity in town”.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to THE REPUBLIC thanked the NDC PC for the gesture.
A resident and beneficiary who identified herself as Adizatu Mohammed, lauded Mr Allotey for his relentless efforts to reach out to the less privileged under the hardship times, saying, ” this food will help keep me going”.
She also called on other politicians to emulate the NDCP PC for the essence of leadership is to offer sacrificial service to the people.
Accompanying the PC were Constituency executives including Chairman, Mr. Kwasi Arhin, Communications Officer, Mr. Mawuli Kpodo ,Deputy Communications Officer, Mr. Ralph Apetorgbor, Secretary, Mr. Edem Asamoah, Organiser, Mr. Abdul Karim and Youth Organiser, Mr. Vincent Yenbey.
The PC promised to replicate same to all Muslims in the constituency during and after the Ramadan period.
