Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta on Friday made U-turn to parliament to amend the 2020 budget statement barely 48 hours after his presentation.
The move was to satisfy Chiefs and People of the Volta Region who had accused the government of neglecting their roads by refusing to mention them among the list of critical roads to be fixed next year.
The Volta Caucus in parliament on Thursday demanded an apology from the minister for the gaffe.
But Ranking member on Roads and Transport Committee, Hon Governs Kwame Agbodza told Journalists the minister must amend the budget to capture roads in the Volta Region under the critical roads for the 2020 program.
On Friday, the minister, in his usual white apparel was in parliament for what could be termed a supplementary budget even before the appropriation bill is passed.
He added at least 3 roads to the critical list of roads.
The roads includes Asikuma-Have, Have-Hohoe-Jasikan and Ho-Dzodze, would be on critical roads.
The Minority leader, Hon Haruna Iddrisu assured the named projects will be keenly monitored to ensure the government isn’t pulling a fast one on the people of the Volta Region.
