The Greater Accra Regional Zongo Caucus chapter of the National Democratic Congress ( NDC) has inaugurated working committees as part if it’s preparation toward the 2020 general elections.
The inauguration heralds the steering in of a Deputy Regional Zongo Caucus Co-ordinator, Alhaji Shaded Umar Jello, who’s is to provide working support to the substantive Coordinator, Alhaji Ishmalia Ali Horoyah.
The Committee comprises Regional Zongo Caucus Council of Patrons; Zongo Magajias (Women), headed by Hajia Marriam Sinare; Zongo Communication Team amongst others.
The Regional Zongo Caucus Co-ordinator, Ali Horoya in remarks said the inauguration of the committees marks the beginning of the journey to victory 2020.
He said the Regional Zongo Caucus working committee is necessary because of the attempt by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) which engaged in deceptive policies and financial inducement on the youth to get votes at the detriment of development in their communities across the region.
“This Committee is expected to work within various areas of our communities to tell the people the success stories of the NDC party and its beliefs in respecting and given equal opportunities to the Zongo people”, he posited.
Alhaji Horoya, however, charged all the constituency Zongo Caucus coordinators in the region to form their working committees with immediate effect.
“It, s an undeniable fact that the NDC has a track record of eliminating or minimizing the plight of the people of Zongos, hence, the call on NDC by the people to rescue this country from the substandard and corrupt Nana Addo led NPP government”, Horoya echoes.
Horoya Ali lambasted the government for its lip services to Zongopeople to the Ministry of Inner Cities and Zongo Development and the Zongo Development Fund were created in their quest to deceive the people of Zongos for their votes.
In his view, the NPP’s never have the intention to develop the Zongos as a government and it clear the created intuitions have turned into “a talk shop ministries with no single project to point at.”
“We are therefore, calling for special audit into the spendings of these two entities to ensure monies allocated to them were used for the intended purposes”, he charged.
The Zongo, caucus Co-ordinator said the Nana Addo led administration has failed the people of Zongo woefully, and that NDC has what it take to save the Congo communities and the entire, country from the mismanaged economy.
He used the occasion to condemns the unprovoked attacks on the Fulanis and other tribal settlers in the country and asked the security agencies to provide protection to them.
” I therefore, call on people in politics, religious and traditional leadership positions to lead the crusade to end tribal attacks and discriminations among the people”.
He assured that the NDC would roll out effective programmes to develop the Zongo communities when the party return to power in 2021.
