Flawless Information The Republic picked indicates that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for La Dadekotopon Constituency, Vincent Odotei Sowah has threatened to go independent if he loses the primaries.
A source closed to the La NPP camp alleged that the Hon. MP intended contesting as an independent candidate if the New Patriotic Party, delegates in La Constituency fail to retain him as Parliamentary Candidate for his second term.
Mr Odotei Sowah aka Obama snatched the Parliamentary seat from the incumbent, Nii Amasah Namoale in 2016 elections with about 40,126 votes representing 50.58 per cent and about 38,504 votes for Nii representing 48.54 per cent.
Prior to the 2016 general elections, Mr Odotei Sowah campaigned that when elected as MP he would mobilise public-spirited persons to help transform the La Dadekotopon Constituency massively irrespective who the President might be.
The source quoted Mr Sowah saying, “Ghana needs a new crop of professionals with vast experience and a good track record and are committed and ready to add value and change the face of politics in the Constituency”.
The source disclosed that the MP has heavily failed the people of La Dade-Kotopon following his campaign promises of development and supporting the youth with employment amongst many other things.
The Source further alleged that Mr Odotei Sowah who is also the Deputy Minister for Communication has rather neglected the constituent especially the youth who supported him to win the Parliamentary seat.
According to our sources, the Deputy Minister is also not playing his role expected as a Member of Parliament for the area and rather concentrating on his ministerial post and his business.
The MP is said to have suddenly become inaccessible and unpopular in the Constituency for which reason the NPP delegates had decided to punish him by voting him out.
Further information pointed that Hon Odotei’s main contender in the 2015 NPP primaries and a financier of the party in the La Dadekotopon Constituency, Oscar Nii Odoi Glover will contest him again.
Another name circulating in the Constituency is a Ghanaian business tycoon, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of McDan Group of Companies, Daniel McKorley will also contest the MP in the upcoming primaries.
