Youth members of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) in La Dadekotopon constituency, have charged delegates of the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the party to help present a female as Candidate to take the seat back from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The Youth are fronting for Madam Rita Odoley Sowah, the only female aspiring candidate among three men.
The La-dekotopon youth made the call to delegates when Rita Sowah, appeared before the NDC Regional vetting Committee last Friday.
The party supporters who were chanting the melodious NDC songs claimed that La Dadekotopon Constituency had so far presented about six men in parliament on the role including the current MP who is also a male.
Ms Odoley Sowah former MCE for La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) is contesting with three men in the upcoming National Democratic Congress, parliamentary primaries on August 24, 2019, in the area.
In an interview with The Republic, the former MCE, after vetting said she had gone through the vetting process successfully which qualifies her to become a parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the NDC.
Ms Odoley Sowah indicated that she had been tried and tested and that her track records amongst others spoke for her as the former MCE for everyone to see for himself.
“I believe is a season for women and I trust that the men will support me to make sure I win the primaries and win the seat during the national elections”, she stated.
She added, “…..with La Dadekotopon we’ve had six men in a role as MP’s and I believe it is time for us to support a woman to lead the people of La; I’ll make sure as a mother, I bring everybody on board to ensure we celebrate La Dadekotopon and Ghana as a whole in 2021”.
She said with the experience she had gained as a former MCE of the area, she will be able to lobby for more projects for the Constituency when given the nod as MP, saying,she will bring all forces together with an open heart and arm for the NDC to recapture the seat from the ‘deceit’ NPP.
She added that when she gets the nod as MP, she would empowerment the women and the youth through their wards to enable them to create jobs for themselves.
The former MCE assured delegates of her commitment to support the party and to unite the party in the La Dadekotopon Constituency at all levels.
