Former MCE for La-Dadekotopon Files Nomination to Contest Parliamentary Seat

Madam Rita Odoley Sowah, former Municipal Chief I’ve (MCE) for La Dade-Kotopon, has joined several class of beauticians in the Greater Accra Region, to contest the upcoming Parliamentary primaries slated for August 24, 2019.

Madam Rita on Friday, July 19, successfully filed her nomination forms to wrestle three men in the,e constituency to lead the party as parliamentary candidate for the 2020 general elections.

The former MCE and her supporters stormed the party office amidst drumming and dancing through the La township where she responded to cheer from many market women and residents who are called for the return of the NDC.

Addressing media after filing her nomination, Madam Rita Odoley highlighted her vision towards building harmony within the NDC in La Dade-Kotopon ahead of elections 2020 when she wins the primaries.

According to her, the motivation to join the race was in response to the plight of La people especially People With Disability (PWD) as well as the NDC as a whole in the area.
She mentioned a number of projects to her credit when she was the MCE for La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly including the resurfacing of the roads, new Assembly office complex she lobbied for and yet completely new market complex amongst others.
As a mother, she paid for the training of young ladies in various skills to enable them to also make a meaningful living; aside from the scholarship package to students who now gain employment to teach in some SHS in La.

Madam Odoley Sowah has a passion for social justice, considering her background and tries to assist people, this makes her a mother and the ideal candidate for a demanding position in politics.

“We had six men on a role as MPs for La Dade-Kotopon Constituency, and the time has come for me, a woman to also come in with my lobbying skills to further help with the development of La”, she pointed out.

“..since the NDC handed overpower the governing NPP cannot point at a single project they have initiated and completed here in La Dade-Kotopon”, the former MCE opined.

Addressing her supporters, candidate Odoley Sowah appealed to them to ensure they carry out a clean campaign without insults and attacks on other contestants and their followers since everyone will be needed going into 2020 elections.

She stressed on the need for a strong unity within the party during and after the primaries to face the failed ruling NPP led by ‘old man’ Nana Akufo-Addo in 2020.

The former expressed her gratitude to the constituency executives, delegates & party members for their continuous commitment, loyalty and dedication towards the NDC party activities and the agenda to wrestle power from the clueless, incompetent, inept and nepotistic government of the Nana Addo administration.

The Constituency Secretary, Edem Nyamador and the Election Directorate, said it’s a friendly contest, therefore, the leaders and their supporters should be mindful and campaign with good messages devoid of personalisation and attacks.
