A member of the Greater Accra Regional Communication team of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) John Afful, has said that electing Nana Akufo Addo as president in 2016 was a huge mistake.
According to him, the current state of lawlessness and injustice coupled with economic hardship could have been avoided if Ghanaians listen to the NDC and retained its Presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama as President of the country.
The NDC Communicator said, unlike President Akufo Addo, whom he said has been rejected by Ghanaians because he “visionless, lawless and a self-centred, uncaring, divisive and incompetent leader, whose administration relishes in inflicting pain, sorrow and hardship on others,” John Mahama, however, is generally accepted as a “unifier, a broad-minded leader, who is committed to the welfare and uplifting of living standard of the citizens.
Mr Afful made these claims in an interview with THE REPUBLIC on the state of Ghana economy in Accra Wednesday, July 17, 2019.
The NDC Communicator said since John Mahama was re-elected as the party Presidential candidate, the Akufo Addo camp has continued to deplete in millions, adding that very soon President Akufo Addo will find himself a “general without a troop, as Ghanaians are no longer willing to blindly follow an incompetent leader, who thrives only on false promises, propaganda and procured endorsements.
“Ghanaians have reached a consensus to rally with John Mahama, because unlike President Akufo Addo, whose administration represents, hunger, starvation, violence, oppression and general national misfortune, Mahama embodies a hope of national rebirth; he embodies democracy, unity and constitutional order; he embodies wealth creation, youth empowerment and that aspiration for a prosperous nation, where all are free.
“Ghanaians know that unlike President Akufo who cannot point to any contribution to our national economy, has not been able to successfully manage any enterprise and has no future blueprint for our nation. Mahama is a world-class leader, widely accepted as the epitome of wealth creation and youth empowerment and whose policy direction provides practical answers to the challenges confronting our nation today. That is why Ghanaians are eager to go to the polls. That is why they want to elect him as their next President”, Afful stated.
Mr Afful described President Akufo Addo ‘s election in 2016 as “a huge mistake for which the nation has already paid dearly”, adding that “there is no way the nation can survive if President Akufo is allowed to lead for another four years”.
The NDC Activist bemoaned that the Akufo Addo administration has brought untold hardship to Ghanaians, particularly in the cocoa-growing communities who he said, “feel hugely betrayed by President Akufo Addo’s failure to fulfil his 2016 campaign promises and now angered by his current posturing with false performance claims and list of fresh promises, instead of apologizing for his flops, ” he added.
