A security expert, Godson Bill Ocloo, has joined scores of professionals who have sacrificed their professional fields for politics in a bid to become Member of Parliament to replace Franklin Fifi Kwetey, for the Ketu South Constituency in the Volta Region.
Bill Ocloo 40, has on Thursday, July 11, picked forms for the Ketu South constituency for the parliamentary primaries race to the Seat for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 polls.
The security expert and seven others are in the contest to succeed the former Transport Minister, Franklin Fifi Kwetey who made a surprise by voluntarily backing down of extreme politics after his two-term services to the people.
Without explaining further Bill told THE REPUBLIC via phone that, his move was in response to calls by constituents and party elders within and outside the Constituency to represent the people of Ketu South on the ticket of NDC in parliament.
It gathered that the security management expert decision to join the race to contest the seat had already sent waves of shuddering down the spines of other contenders due to his huge influence in the constituency.
That notwithstanding, Bill is likely to face stiff competition from about seven other contenders who have similar desires through his fever is gathering momentum and spreading fast to every branch in the constituency.
Other contenders include Foga Nukunu, Joseph Nyavi, Nicholas Worlachi, Caroline Kudah-Parker, Johnson Kofi Kporha, Madam Dzifa Gomashie and Sylvester Kafui Nyasorgbor.
Bill Ocloo is a native and hails from Adafienu near Denu in the Ketu South Municipality.
He began his life career as a trained French Teacher from the Mount Mary Training College, Somanya in Eastern Region, where he obtained French Teacher’s Certificate “A” and taught at the Saints Peter and Paul Basic school for a number of years.
He had his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration (Accounting) from the Methodist University (Accra) and proceeded to do his Master’s Degree in Peace, Security and Conflict Resolution at the prestigious Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Centre (KAIPTC), Teshie in Accra.
In other to make his desire in conflict resolution in the sub-region of Africa, Bill Ocloo, also pursued several professional courses in United Nations University in Germany, Peace Operations Training in Denmark, Crisis/Disaster Management at ICIMOD in Nepal & Eduardo Universidade, Mozambique.
He has travelled extensively worldwide and met several top-notch security/Crisis Management experts, and politicians and has been consulted on complex security matters across the West Africa Sub- Region.
The well-known security avatar has presented several papers and speeches at the University of Ghana, Legon, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and others outside the country.
Bill Ocloo is currently a doctoral candidate at one of the premier Universities in Canada, researching on Human Security.
Bill, as he is commonly known, started politics as a grassroots activism way back at Mount Mary Training College and his move for NDC party catapulted him become the Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN) President at Methodist University.
As a grassroots politician, he has served on several party positions both at the constituency level and the national level. He is always deeply involved in all party activities both in Ketu South and National.
Bill Ocloo is Happily married to a beautiful lady from Aflao and has two children.
