A group of women members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Madina Constituency have vowed to go all out to secure a landslide victory for renowned Human Rights lawyer, Francis Xavier Sosu.
According to the women the human rights lawyer has over the years demonstrated his kind willingness to serve the good people of Madina, hence their decision to rally behind him to represent the people in parliament.
Spokesperson of the group, who identified herself as Hajia Maria made the solemn vow after they group picked nomination forms for Francis Sosu in Accra last Thursday, July 11, 2019.
Lawyer Sosu appeared highly favoured by the people in the upcoming parliamentary primaries being the only one to have contested before.
In 2015, Lawyer Sosu lost narrowly to the then incumbent Member of Parliament Amadu Bukari Sorogho who obtained 1,738 votes against Sosu who polled 1,486 votes, while the other contestants Abdul Rahim Aremeyaw and Baba Ibrahim Mohammed had 454 and 210 votes respectively.
This, the women group that described themselves as “Concerned Madina NDC Women ” motivated them to purchase the nomination forms for and on behalf of the renowned Human Rights Lawyer to contest for the second time.
“Lawyer Sosu did very well in the last primaries. The people already know him. Aside from politics, he has contributed a lot to this country and he is the kind of person we need in parliament to represent us. Even NPP supported are willing to vote for him if elected as a parliamentary candidate ” Hajia Maria stated.
Lawyer Francis Sosu is in the race with two other persons, including Siidi Abubakar Musah, immediate past National Youth Organizer of the NDC and Alhaji Failah Hussein, a former Presiding member of the La Nkwatanag Madina Municipal Assembly.
But the concern women believed that Francis Sosu stands tall among all his contenders and stands a far better chance to reclaim the lost seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) no matter whoever the ruling party put up for the 2020 general elections.
The Madina women, therefore, called on delegates not to allow themselves to deceive or entice with money to vote for persons who would not be around to attend to their plight.
In their view, Lawyer Sosu is a human-centred politician and proven has proven that over the years in his professional field as a lawyer and stood for persons who needed him most upon a request.
