Top Police Officer fingered in Abokobi land ownership tussle

A Senior police officer of the Ghana Police Services,identified as DSP Gariba has been accused by families and Estate Developers of the Abokobi lands for meddling in land litigation issues.

DSP Gariba, is alleged to be dispatching police commandos to terrorize family members, the traditional land owners of the Abokobi lands, to pave way for some encroachers who lose case in court to remained on the land.

Ibrahim Jaja, Chief Executive of IbrahimBroby Company Ltd, an Estate Developer on the Abokobi lands is appealing to the police IGP to call the said DSP Gariba of the Anti-fraud unit to order and allow the cause of justice and fair play to prevail

The Senior police officer, Jaja said, is currently enmeshed in a controversy over the ownership of 593 acre of land belonging to the Adutso and TeinorWe families of Abokobi,

The Estate Developer accused Gariba of frustrating the execution of a court judgement issued by an Accra high court, by dispatching police operatives from Adenta,Ayimensah and Madina, to frustrate the lands owners from taking lawful possessing.

Jaja also alleged that, DSP Gariba, was alleged to have conspired with one Businessman and Owner of Yormi Yorghot production company, to pervert the cause of justice on the real ownership of the land.

Narrating the entire case, Mr Jaja said, sometime in 2004, he got power of Attorney from the Adutso family to pursue a court case on behalf of the family concerning the 593 acre land in Abokobi.

He said, later another friend to the family known as Tanko was brought to join him in the court case and eventually they won the case from Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court after been dissatisfied with the High Court decision on the matter.

According to him, after the Supreme Court has cleared them legitimate owners of the lands, the family notified the residents who bought lands from the illegal owner, the defendant who lose the case in court.

He said, it was amicably resolved that,the said residents normalize their documents with the Adutso family so they could continue to occupy and be recognize as suc, but some of the resident received ill advise from friends to kick against the family decision.

Mr Jaja said, the Adutso family was left with no option than to enforce the court judgement and take possession of the lands.

He explained that,anytime the family sourced the Regional Police protection to lawfully demolish the structures, one Gariba at the police headquarters would also organise police to resist any attempt to take possessing of the lands.

This,he said,occurred on several occasion which the said Gariba have been penciled for contempt of court for frustrating and perverting the cause of justice on the real ownership of the land.

He also appealed to the IGP to call the said DSP Gariba at Police Anti-Fraud Unit, to order to allow the cause of justice and fair play to prevail in his ordeal.
