A former Deputy Minister of Energy, John Abdulai Jinapor has taken a swipe at the Nana Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party ( NPP) government and charge him to stop whining and fix the economic problems.
Speaking at the Coalition of Restoration Forum (CRF ) lecture in Accra, John Jinapor remind President Akufo Addo and the ruling NPP that, “when the people vote for you, your duty is not to go round whining, your duty is to solve the problems”.
He made the statement in response to the NPP’s penchant of blame game and unnecessary excuses instead of concentrating to solve the worsening economic problems Ghanaians are battling with due to lack of ideas after they bragged to win the 2016 elections.
John Jinapor, argued that under the ruling NPP, BOST has no strategic stocks in their tanks; “if there is any shortage today, we will be in trouble “, John Jinapor alarmed.
“…..when we were increasing capacity in the power sector, President John Dramani Mahama saw to it that we increased access”, he pointed out.
He noted that the worse form of corruption under the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government was to declared fuel as contaminated and sold it at a knock-down price to cronies.
John Jinapor, added that what the Akufo-Addo government could only do was to increase access to electricity from 83% to 84%; “while we (NDC/JM) did 4% increase in access per anum”.
The former deputy Energy Minister indicated that Nana Akufo-Addo was economical the truth when he (Nana) claimed inheriting $2.4 billion debt from former President John Dramani Mahama when he rather inherited $2.1 billion as at August, 2017.
He therefore urged President Akufo-Addo to always consider his age (75) and be little honest, and he must not try to deceive Ghanaians. “However, according to Ken Ofori Atta, our total debt was $2.1 billion as at August 2017”, John Jinapor posited.
