The Greater Accra Regional Women’s Wing of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, has reached out to the aged members of the party in the region to celebrate this year International Women Day.

Led by regional women’s organizer, Madam Felicia Bortey, the NDC women donated assorted items including mattresses, buckets of power soap, t-rolls, starkits, among other items.
Some members were former Health Minister, Ms Sherry Aryittey, Ambassador Mole Addo, former Ghana Ambassador to Italy, Mrs Josephine Lawal, Tema Central Women’s organizer, Madam Peace Kakraba Ashaiman Women’s Organizer, among other leading women in the region.

They visited Mrs Rose Sackey, a forme Regional Women’s Organizer,  Hon Beatrice Ashong, a former MP for Kpone-Katamanson, Hajia Saradatu Mahama, a former Branch Chairman at Ashaiman and Madam Elizabeth Buah, a  former constituency Chairman for Ashaiman.
Mama Felicia Bortey said the visit and the donation was to appreciate the effort the elderly made during their time to grow the party and kept it in force till date.
She explained that there are many of such aged women in the party who need support due to their old ages, adding that with resources,  the regional women’s wing would replicate same to identified aged women of the party in the region.

She however asked the elderly women to continue to pray for the NDC to return to power in 2020.
While congratulating the Ghanaian women for the effort and contributions to the development of the country, Mama Felicia also called on her colleague women to continue to strive in all spheres and extend support to the needy and the vulnerable women and children in society.
On her part, Madam Sherry Aryittey said, the aged women had  laid the foundation for the party by sacrificing their energy and time to grow it till date.
Most of them she said, nurtured the NDC party from the days of 31st December, to the present  NDC and that their loyalty and contributions to the party need to be recognised.

She said, as the nation joined the rest of the world to celebrate this year International Women’s Day, the women leadership of the party in the region felt it important to reach out to the elderly women and to show love and to express appreciation of their hard work to laid the foundation of the party.
Madam Aryittey said, no political party could develop without showing appreciation to its founding members and that with time and resources they would continue to reach out to the NDC elderly  persons who had help to grow the party till date.
All the aged NDC women visited expressed their appreciation for the time and the donations.
Hon Beatrice Ashong who is who is 80 years, said she was surprised as such thing had never happened in her life since she retired from active politics 20 years ago.
She thanked  the regional women’s executives for remembering her and prayed for the party and it’s flagbearer John Mahama.
Mrs Rose Sackey, Hajia Saradatu Mahama and Madam Elizabeth Buah, also expressed similar gratitude for the donation.

The International women’s Day is observed|eved every year on the 8th of March. This year global them| was #Balance for Better, which sought to canvas women globally for gender empowerment.
