SONA 2019: Akufo-Addo presented Brighter Future to Ghanaians – Ahanta West MP

Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahanta West, Hon Ebenezer Kojo Kum, Member of Parliament (MP), has indicated that President Akufo Addo presented a very honest account of the state of the nation and must, therefore, be commended.

Speaking to THE REPUBLIC on the State of Nation (SONA) by President delivered in Parliament on Thursday February 21, the MP who is also the Deputy Chairmen for Judiciary Committee of Parliament said, the President gave an outline of how the economy was doing by touching on indicators that brighten the economy.

He said, the government has been putting the right measures in place to make the economy grow and it was not surprising that investors are coming into the country in their numbers.

The Ahanta West lawmaker said, even though the President could not have covered everything, he was very honest and was truthful to Ghanaians by touching almost every sector of the economy.

According to Mr. Kum, issues such as Sanitation, security, investment, foreign policy, education, and sports among others were captured, an indication that the Present is fully abreast with all issues.

He expressed the hope the debate on the state of nation address which started Tuesday February 26, would bring out the details for Ghanaians to see concrete measures that are being adopted to put Ghana on the right track.

President Akufo-Addo delivered the address in Parliament on Thursday where he accounted for his stewardship over the last year in all sectors of the economy.

He also used the opportunity to announce some policies the government intends to implement including a new curriculum for primary and pre-school.

The president’s address was however silent on the falling Ghanaian cedi as well as the three kidnapped girls in the Western Region, a move some analysts have criticised.
