The Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa East Mr. Godfrey Tangu Bayon, has indicated that President Akufo Addo gave a very honest account of the state of the nation which would ultimately restore hope on the economy.
Speaking to Journalists after the President delivered his state of the nation in Parliament on Thursday February 21, the MP said, the President gave an outline of how the economy was doing by touching on indicators that would boost investment and restore hope.
He said, the government has been putting the right measures in place to make the economy grow and it is not surprising that investors are coming into the country in their numbers.
The Wa East MP who is Chairman of Poverty Reduction Committee of Parliament said, even though the President could not have covered every sector of the economy, he was very honest and was truthful to Ghanaians by touching almost every key sector of the economy.
According to Mr Bayon, issues such as security, investment, foreign policy, education, oil discovery, agriculture and sports among others were captured, an indication that the NPP government is fully abreast with all issues and is on track.
He was hopeful the debate on the state of nation address would start on Tuesday, February 26, where details would emerge for Ghanaians to see concrete measures that are being adopted to restore hope and put the economy on track.
President Akufo-Addo delivered the address in Parliament on Thursday where he accounted for his stewardship over the last year in all sectors of the economy.
He also used the opportunity to announce some policies the government intends to implement including a new curriculum for primary and pre-school.
The president’s address was however silent on the falling Ghanaian cedi as well as the three kidnapped girls in the Western Region, a move some analysts have criticised.
