The Member of Parliament for Agotime-Ziope, Hon Charles Agbeve, has presented a corn-mill machines valued at GHS5,000.00, to the Agotime Senior High School, in the constituency.
The gesture was in fulfilment of a request made by Parent Teachers Association (PTA) of the school after several request to government through the District Chief Executive has failed.
According to the MP, the request was made following the high increased of number of students admitted to the school as a result of the free senior high school programme by government.
The Corn-Mill, he stated, would be use to grind foodstuff for the school to avoid high expenditure to grind at commercial Corn-Mills and as well prevent possible food poisons.
While assuring the school management and students of his vision transform the constituency, Mr Agbeve, also advised them to do away with politics when it comes to issues affecting development.
He reiterated his commitment to ensure that development is brought to the door step of the people with emphasis on access to education , health care, portable water, youth and community development as his paramount concern.
He used the occasion to inform teachers , students of the school and people of the area the effort he is making in parliament and at the constituency and his burning desire to offer a high caliber of services to the people.
The MP again promised to personally donate prize to the best Elective Mathematics student of the school during their next Speech and Prize giving Day and to also sponsor three best students every year to visit parliament.
He has admonished the students to eschew truancy and laxity but strive to read their books so they could excel in their education.
He told the students, they are the nation’s future leaders hence they must not fail their parents, adding that each of them have the chance of succeeding him in parliament should they study hard and excel in their education.
Mr Agbeve however charged the management to make good use of the Corn-Mill but ensure maintenance to serve the purpose it was purchased for.
The MP thanked the people for reposing confidence in him and granting him the chance to represent them in parliament.
Mr Alexander Gabby Hottordze, MP for Central Tongu also advised the students to be self discipline and restrain themselves from social vices that could affect their future.
The Headmistress of the School, Madam Mabel Essegbey, on behalf of the school management expressed her appreciation to the MP for his prompt response to requests.
She assured that Corn-Mill would be use for the purpose intended and appealed similar assistance to improve quality teaching and learning.
The PTA chairman, Mr. Paul Hukporti, who could not hide his joy said “I contacted almost all the big wigs of my party, the New Patriotic Party ( NPP) including the District Chief Executive ( DCE ) with the same request but not even one called to tell me they won’t provide, though it is my party in power. The only person who promised me and is delivering on his promise is the Honourable MP. If you have a vote, give it to someone who can listen and respond to you”.
The ecstatic students, teachers and members of the PTA, especially the Chairman mobbed the MP with joy and showers of praises.
To the students and school management, the timely delivering of the request and the time visits to the constituency by their affable MP in addition to timely relay of relevant information and significant support to students in the form of scholarship despite been an opposition MP, is a clear sign of dedicated leadership.
The student however appealed to the MP to help the school secure a TV set, an orthography and other ICT equipment.
